Anthropology 19 Language and Culture

Language as a cultural institution. Relation to other aspects of culture and society. Behavior patterns in speech. Language, symbolism, and thought. Use of linguistic models. (Not open to students who have completed Anthropology 46.) Prerequisite: Anthropology *1 or *2.1 or 2.3, or Linguistics 1, or permission of the chairperson.
